Herbert (Bud) Ern Herbert Herbert (Bud) Ernest Brandt Jr.  Bud was born May 13, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Herbert and Martha Brandt.  Bud graduated from Phoenix Technical School in 1949 and he was a veteran of the Korean War with service in the United States Navy as a Gunners? Mate on the USS McGinty DE365 destroyer.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal and China Service Medal.  Bud was also in the US  Navy Reserves until 1959.  Bud retired after 42 years of service from Santa Fe Railroad as a conductor.  He has resided in both Phoenix and Prescott, AZ and enjoyed his retirement years in Kino Bay, Mexico.  Bud is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gloria Anne Hoffman Brandt, his son, Brad G. Brandt (Barbara McNally) of Tempe, AZ., and daughter Glenda L. Schroeder (David F. Belkowitz) of Glen Allen, VA.  Bud was the grandfather of Brad S. Brandt and Zyanya E. Brandt both of Tempe, AZ.  Bud was the big brother of William H. Brandt of Camarillo, CA., Robert E. Brandt (Ruth) of Prescott, AZ., and Barbara J. Brandt of Costa Mesa, CA.  Bud was a dad and friend of Elizabeth and Tom Shoemaker of Tempe, AZ.  He was the uncle of 6 nieces and 4 nephews, and he was the dog daddy to his devoted and faithful friend Barney.   Bud entered the Pearly Gates with a pitcher of margaritas and a pocket full of dog biscuit?s for all to share who have entered before him on September 18, 2009, after a short battle with cancer.   Contributions may be made in Bud?s memory to Hospice of the Valley at Friendship Village, 2525 E. Southern Avenue, Tempe, AZ 85282.A Celebration of Bud?s life will be 12:30 PM  Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at AZ Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S Cortez Street, Prescott, AZ.  Final Farewell and Commendation will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Prescott, AZ.
