Henry Siegel passed away peacefully in his home on September 28, 2011 after fighting a long battle with cancer.
Henry was born in Brooklyn NY on April 15, 1926 to Samuel and Sophie Siegel and was the youngest of 2 boys. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Army from 1944-46 during WWII. While in the Army, he saw heavy combat in Central Europe and in the Rhineland campaigns and was awarded the combat infantry badge and bronze star.After serving out his time in the military, Henry returned home and settled back into civilian life joining the U.S. Postal Service in Brooklyn NY. Henry met Marilyn Wiener at Brickman\'s Hotel in the Catskill Mountains in the summer of 1950 and they were married on July 3rd 1951. While in Brooklyn, he held down several jobs to support a growing family of 4 children including a retail business he ran together with his brother Leon. Henry and Marilyn moved the family out to Tucson, Arizona in 1967 seeking a better life for his family beyond the boundaries of New York City. Transferring jobs within the Postal Service the family settled into the East side of Tucson and later moved to the Catalina foothills raising his family, including sending 4 children to college, before finally moving to Prescott in 1997 to enjoy his retirement years. Once in Prescott, he became affiliated with Temple Brith Shalom and served as Treasurer for the synagogue for a period of time.
Henry was a kind and gentle soul whose priority in life was supporting his family, helping them in any what he could to succeed. What characterized Henry the most was his easy going nature, his strong work ethic, his unique sense of humor, his love for his family and abundance of friends. One of his passions was being involved with the University of Arizona football and basketball programs.
Henry lived a good life retiring from the Postal Service at the age of 64. During his retirement years he and Marilyn traveled around the world to such places as Europe, Canada, the Caribbean, Alaska, and Asia. He also took the time during these retirement years to spend special time with his sons on their annual father-son trips visiting places such as Sedona, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Sonoma, Colorado Springs, Santa Fe, and Bend, Oregon. Henry is survived by his wife Marilyn, daughter Heidi Lawrence and her husband Charlie of Prescott, sons Jeffrey Siegel and wife Jessica of Los Gatos CA, Eric Siegel and wife Caryn of San Diego, and David Siegel and wife Linda of Gilbert, his 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren who will all miss him a great deal.

A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2011 at Heritage Memory Park Cemetery in Dewey, Arizona.
