Henry Reyes Aviles

Henry R Aviles was born May 23rd 1918 in New York City. He didn’t care for New York so he moved west! Henry lived a full life and accomplished many things. He was married to his beloved wife, Estela, for 56 years, until she passed in 2004. Henry was a commercial fisherman in the great Northwest for several years. He owned over a dozen businesses and developed commercial property in Santa Barbara on Mission Street. Henry earned a 4th degree in the Knight of Columbus, and served all the Catholic churches in Santa Barbara for many, many years. Henry owned Hanks TV & Radio in Santa Barbara for over 25 years. Henry was president of the Santa Barbara Sportsfishing Club and served as Fish & Game Commissioner in Santa Barbara County. He was an exceptional bowler (Gold in the Prescott Senior Olympics in 2004-2012) and an avid fisherman. He even caught a large catfish in Lynx Lake a month before he passed away on July 5th, 2014 (thanks, Frederico!). He is survived by four children: Carmen, Margo (Mitch), Julie (Raymond) and Mark (Beverly); six grandchildren: Marina (Jimmy), Reyes, Astoria, Weston, Duren and Serene; and three great grand-daughters: KaiLey, Kirra and Kalina.
