Henry G Rogers

Henry G. Rogers "Hank," age 79, recently retired owner of H&M Rogers Transportation, passed away at home on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011.He was born Jan. 24, 1931, in New York, N.Y., to the late Henry and Elizabeth Rogers. He graduated from Haaren Aeronautical High School in New York. Hank served in the U.S. Air Force, then followed in his father's footsteps in transportation as a New York City bus driver during the early 1950s and then as owner/operator of H. Rogers Trucking, over-the-road truck driving. Being an avid roller skate dancer and freestylist since he was 7 years old, Hank came off the road when he was 40 years old in order to settle down in Colorado where he started another venture, building Rainbow Roller Skating Rink in Grand Junction, Colo., which he owned and operated until the late 1980s. On Nov. 24, 1992, Hank and Margy (Wechter) Rogers were married in Denver, Colo. Hank worked as a Denver City Transit driver/trainer where he became head of Safety and Training and consequently met Margy there, who worked as a city bus driver, also teaching voice lessons on the side. Hank loved music! In 1994, Hank and Margy moved to La Junta, Colo. in order to purchase La Junta KOA RV Park which they owned and operated until 2002, working and driving part-time with special-needs children and handicapped transportation. Hank "retired" and the couple moved to Prescott, Ariz., to be closer to family - their son, Cory Sposi, who resides in Tempe, Ariz. From 2004, Hank and Margy started and operated H&M Rogers Transportation, which continues to provide non-emergency medical transportation in Prescott quad-city area, statewide throughout Arizona, as well as out of state. With the help of many wonderful drivers and friends, Hank enjoyed being part of this vital service until the day he left us.Hank is survived by his wife, Margy; and his son and fiancee Cory Sposi and Jennifer Mack. We miss you and love you, Hank.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to Hospice Family Care Inc., 101 E.
