Henry Allan (“Al”) Bryant, born March 6, 1948, was reunited with God on July 30, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Paula; his daughters Kathryn Bryant and Tammy (Nick) Pauletto; his three granddaughters Piper, Remington, and Adeline Pauletto; and his sister Susan (Bruce) McCullough.
Al was a lifelong devoted follower of God and an active member of the American Lutheran Church for over 30 years. He sang in the choir, helped to protect the congregation as a member of the church’s Safety and Security team, and regularly attended Crossfire. He lived as a true Christian, believing in Jesus and trying every day to do as Jesus would have him do.
Professionally, Al had two long and successful careers as a pilot. He was a fighter pilot for the United States Air Force, from which he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served for 22+ years and was a veteran of the Cold War.
After his Air Force career, Al joined Southwest Airlines and flew for them for 19 years. He retired as a full Captain and spent the last few years as an armed Federal Flight Deck Officer. In his retirement, he served on the Board of Directors for the Yavapai Humane Society.
Even more than for his accomplishments, Al will be remembered for his love: as a husband, father, son, brother, pet owner and friend. He was generous with his time, his support, his admiration, and his positivity; he was reliable and steadfast. He loved to talk and had a laugh that was contagious. He enjoyed many things, including flying, riding his motorcycle, shooting, watching sports and sharing meals with loved ones. Still, his greatest joy was the life and family he built with Paula.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., at the American Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Paralyzed Veterans of America at www.pva.gov.
