Heather Leslie Quigley of Prescott, Arizona, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2023 aged 72 years old.
Heather was born on April 9, 1950 in New Haven, CT to Joyce and Frank Weymer. After graduating high school, she attended Russell Sage College in Troy, NY having been awarded a full four year academic scholarship. She graduated in 1973 with a degree in History and subsequently worked in federal service for the Department of Labor in Washington DC, Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA. In addition, she worked for the Department of Justice adjudicating death benefit claims pursuant to the Public Safety Officers’ Benefits Program. During her federal service she was recognized on numerous occasions for superior performance. After her federal career, Heather attended St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA and received a graduate degree in Education and taught high school.
Heather and Dennis met while working together for the Department of Labor where Dennis was immediately enamored by her beauty and zest for life. They married on September 27, 1975 at the Cathedral of St Thomas More in Arlington, Virginia and subsequently moved to Los Angeles where they had their daughter, Lindsay, in 1981. They proceeded to live in both Northern and Southern California and eventually moved back to the Washington DC region. Upon retirement they moved to the quaint city of Prescott Arizona also known as “Arizona’s Christmas City”.
Throughout her life Heather had a strong interest in traveling and enjoyed numerous trips domestically and abroad to include Hawaii, Mexico, Egypt and Ireland. She was an avid animal lover and was “mother” to two Samoyed dogs, four felines including a now 22-year-old Himalayan cat, and the occasional rabbit. She had a lifelong interest in holistic medicine and in helping people. Her favorite holidays were Christmas and Easter, and she was a devout believer in the tenets of Christianity. Heather is survived by her husband Dennis, daughter Lindsay, grandson Dominic, sister Dawn Anderson, and Coco the cat. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her!
A Celebration of Life will be held on April15, 2023, at 1pm at the Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home in Dale City, Virginia. In support of Autism Awareness Month, donations may be made in Heather’s name to the Autism Speaks foundation.
