Harold H. Knickerbocker

Harold Herman Knickerbocker died January 11, 2011. He was born in McKean, Pennsylvania on February 19, 1918 to John and Ruth Knickerbocker. He was the youngest of 5 boys and 1 girl.

When WWII started he joined the Army Air Corps as a weather observer and was sent to Fort Nelson on the Alaskan Highway, then to Trout Lake, an outpost in the Arctic Circle.

At the end of WWII he attended The Ohio State University on the GI bill and graduated in 1949. His chosen field was Floriculture. He later became a government employee in the post office at Indianapolis, Indiana, and continued to work there until retirement in 1980. Harold then sold his home and moved to Arizona with his wife and daughter.

Harolds retirement years were spent playing golf, hiking and backpacking in the National Parks, and photographing the many wonders of nature. His photos have been published in Arizona Highways Magazine and have brightened the pages of several other publications.

Harold is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margie and his daughter, Tina.
