Harold Birkholz

Harold A. Birkholz died September 27 at Bob Stump VA Medical Center, Hospice Unit in Prescott. He was born November 11, in Freeport, Illinois; the son of Albert and Grace (Viel) Birkholz. Hal was 82 years old.    Hal served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Cascade during World War II. He was a graduate of John Brown University. Hal further served his country as an electronics engineer for the Dept. of the Navy. He taught both at DeVry and at Prescott?s Christian High School.    Hal was a devoted and long time active member of the Baptist Church. He was ordained and served as a Missionary following the war in Japan and was pastor to several congregations; he was active in AWANA for almost 40 years. Hal enjoyed reading, his computer, sports the Phoenix Suns, the Arizona Diamondbacks however, once a Cub fan always a Cub fan.   Hal is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty; daughter Deborah (Charles) Abernathy; son, David Mark (Teresa) Birkholz; brother, Marvin (Reet) and sister, Jennie Birkholz; granddaughters; Sarah and Anna.
