Remembrances for Guy Wion:

“Dad was the kindest, Humblest, most gentle man I’ve ever known. I have so many fond memories from childhood.

He was my superhero. I once saw him lift the entire back end of a car up that was stuck in the mud. I remember thinking, ‘wow, dad is like Superman!”

Dad and I shared a common love for fishing. He’d taken me to his favorite fishing hole on the creek and I’d catch so many fish. We’d have a big fish fry that night and then dad would get out his guitar and play and we’d sing my favorite song, ‘Puff the Magic Dragon.’

Later in life, dad told me he’d fill that fishing hole with fish before I came to see him. It was as much of a joy to him as it was for me.

Dad made me feel a little like a princess. A fond memory that stands out was when he took me to a fancy restaurant. I had never been somewhere that nice in my life. He ordered for me and when they brought me that fancy, pink, sparkling, bubbly drink with cherries, I thought I was the most special girl in the world at that moment.

There are so many wonderful memories I will treasure of dad. I will miss his love, his kindness, and his gentle soul so very much.

I love you daddy, and I will miss you forever….

-Beryl Schlosser

“Uncle Guy Wion always went out of his way to make you feel special. At one time during his life, he rode broncos and bulls in the rodeo. His love was music and family. He loved to play the guitar and harmonica and sing with friends and family.”

Remembering Uncle Guy, a true inspiration who taught us the importance of love, resilience, and embracing life’s simple pleasures. From his humble beginnings to his passion for family, friends, and music, he showed us the power of a million-dollar smile that could brighten any room. Rest in peace, dear cowboy at heart. Forever cherished in our hearts.”

-Arlene Fowler

“My favorite memory of my brother Guy was when our dad was playing music and the whole family started singing.”

-Ray Pettigrew

"What I remember most about Uncle Guy. His smile, his funny laugh, his kind words, and his advice. He was more like a father to me than an uncle. He was there when I needed a shoulder to lean on. He was always honest with me and a strong figure in my life. He was always there for me, from help teaching me how to drive, to giving me away at my wedding. He was a man with a good soul, and I will miss him dearly. "

-Gena Fugate (niece)

“Dad friendships and family. He was my buddy, my hero, and my compadre.

He taught me the ways of nature. From hunting to trapping to fishing, in wildlife gaming and refuge areas in both Kansas and later in Arizona. My love for God’s animals and nature is thanks to this remarkable man.

His integrity and character is what impressed me the most throughout my growing up. He was the most respectful man towards ladies and people in general.

One of my fondest memories of my father was when we went ocean fishing together along the Oregon coast. They said that we would be lucky to even get a bite or a nibble/ Well, that day God was with us and just like scripture mentions, there was plenty of fish and the nets, or in our case, traps, were all plum full. Praise be to God!

My buddy, my pal, my hero, will be truly missed. He is enjoying a dance with his beloved wife of 47 years now. May your soul be with Jesus until we meet you again dad. And know that you will be truly missed.”

-Robert W. Wion
