Gladys Clark

Gladys Clark Marie Gladys Clark, 98, of Livermore, CA, then Chino Valley, AZ, passed away on March 14, 2013. Born to Peter and Mary Ellen Christensen on March 25, 1914, Gladys was raised on a ranch in Northern California’s Livermore Hills – an area that her grandfather, Hans Christensen, helped pioneer. In 1940, Gladys married William A. “Bill” Clark, and together they raised their family in the Livermore Valley. Even though she was a young wife and mother, Gladys still found time to volunteer at the parish school at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and was an active member at the church’s YLI and the Legion of Mary. In her later years, Gladys volunteered at the Livermore Senior Center and sang in a local chorus. After remaining in Livermore for several years following the death of her beloved husband Bill, Gladys chose to move to Chino Valley, AZ, where she could enjoy spending more time with her grandchildren. Here, she became member St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, joined the Red Hat Society, and spent time traveling with friends and relatives. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Bill, as well as her brothers Melvin Christensen, and Jimmy Christensen. She is survived by her children, William P. Clark of Lander, WY, and Jim Clark of Chino Valley, AZ, as well as her daughter-in-law Cathy Clark, grandchildren Brett Smith, Jesse Clark, Emory Clark, and Joe Clark, her sister Catherine Williams of Livermore, CA, her niece Cathy Amaral, and Cathy's children Chris Massey, Sandy Amaral-Bistor and Darrell Amaral. Strong and steadfast, Gladys will always be remembered a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who know her.
