Gerhard Christian Philipp Umbreit

Gerhard died Friday, February 14, 2014 at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott, Arizona. He was born July 4, 1924 in the Philippine Islands; the son of Friedrich Christian and Luise (Kleiner) Umbreit. Gerhard was 89 years old. He served in the United States Navy and married the love of his life, Margaret Clarke, on December 26, 1949. Gerhard was a chemist and worked in the coatings industry along with helping to raise three children. He was a member of Alpha Chi Sigma (chemical) and enoyed traveling, gardening, and jeeps; he restored a 1944 military jeep. Garhard was very proud of his 64 year marriage to Margaret and his 3 wonderful children. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Lynn Umbreit (Bruce Haibach) of Albuquerque, NM, Nancy Umbreit of Albuquerque, NM, Eric (Diane) Umbreit of Fort Collins, CO.; grandsons, Scott and Mark.
