Geraldine T Lemond

Geraldine T. Lemond, age 82, went to be with the Lord on September 28, 2005. She was born May 6, 1923 in Sharon, Tennessee; the middle child of the late Ellis B. Thomas of Texas, and the late Vera (Worrell) Thomas of Tennessee. Geraldine graduated from Peabody High School in Trenton, TN in May of 1942. After graduation, she moved to Chicago, IL, where she started modeling for the Vera Jane Studio. During this time, Geraldine tied for first honors in three different bathing beauty contests and was runner-up in the "Miss Chicago" pagent. She moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 1943 with her at one time husband, the late Luther C. (Jack, Sr.) Lemond, Jr. She continued to do some modeling for the Diamonds and Goldwater's Department stores for a short time while being a homemaker. She moved to Prescott in 2002 to be closer to her family. Some of Geraldine's favorite activities included reading, playing cards, shopping, and she loved to entertain in her home. She is most proud of her children and grandchildren. Geraldine is survived by her son, Jack, Jr. (Tracy) of Prescott; her daughter, Janet of Phoenix, AZ; a brother, Sam (Jaunita) Thomas of Kenton, TN; a sister Mary (Sam) Buda of Omaha, NE; two granddaughters, Ericka of Dewey, AZ, Katie of Prescott, AZ; and two great-grandsons, Joshua and Tanner, both of Dewey, AZ. A Celebration of  Geraldine's Life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2005 at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, corner of Cortez and Carleton Streets in Prescott, AZ. A private cremation will be held at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley, AZ. Memorials may go to Calvary Chapel, 2313 E. Highway 69, Prescott, AZ 86301.
