George Elbert Travis

George Elbert Travis died January 29, 2005 at Las Fuentes Care Center in Prescott. He was 86 years old.             George was born April 29,  1918 in Prescott to William and Dorothy (Day) Travis. He retired in 1979 as an engineer from Phelps Dodge Mining Co. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and lapidary work.  He was most proud of being from Prescott.                 George is survived by his two sons; Richard (Eileen) Travis of Wickenburg, AZ, David (Jody) Travis of Thatcher, AZ, brothers; William (Oma) Travis of Prescott, AZ, Warren (Ginger) Travis of Dallas, TX, sisters; Mary Helen (Jim) Mellin of San Antonio, TX, Barbara Ann (Laddie) Marin of Blacksburg, Virginia, Dorothy Travis of Phoenix, AZ, and Sharon Travis of Cheverly, MD. He is also survived by his six grandchildren; T.J., Kristin, Holly, Tyler, Sarah, and Elizabeth. George was preceded in death by his loving and caring wife Mary Jane Travis, and sister, Nancy Sparks of Phoenix, AZ.             A celebration of Georges? life Sunday February 6, 2005 at 1PM at the AZ. Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 South Cortez St., Prescott. Private cremation Bradshaw Crematory, Prescott Valley, private interment at the AZ. Pioneer Home Cemetery, Prescott. AZ.
