Gayle Hebb left this earth peacefully on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2010 at Yavapai Regional Medical Center East. Gayle was born on Feb. 27, 1923 in Prescott, Ariz., the daughter of Rochester Gwin Hebb and Jean Crume Hebb.Gayle and her parents left Prescott and moved to California in 1945 to work in the Defense Industry in support of the war effort. Gayle found a position at the Naval Shipyards in San Pedro where she met and married Earnest Cox. Gayle was always proud of her Prescott roots, as her ancestors; A.B. and Matilda Spence, built and ran the "Palace Station Stage Stop" on Senator Highway. She had many fond memories of her childhood in Prescott and often talked about Sharlot Hall and how she would lend the school kids various items to use in school plays. She returned to Prescott in 2001 to be with her family and to enjoy the serenity that Prescott offered. Gayle enjoyed working on her computer and even published a small informative newsletter while in California. I know that she is happy to leave this earth while residing in Prescott and will finally "Rest in Peace."Gayle is survived by her son, Ron and his wife Rachael and "The Light of Her Life," her grandson, Travis.A celebration of Gayle's Life will be on Jan. 5, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., Prescott, AZ 86303.The family suggests memorial donations be made in Gayle's name to the Sharlot Hall Museum, 415 W. Gurley St., Prescott AZ 86301.
