Garrett James Glau, 34, was born in Prescott, Arizona on March 13, 1981 to Gordon and Patricia Glau. He joined his brother in heaven on January 22, 2016. Garrett attended Sacred Heart School, Prescott Mile Hi Middle School and graduated from Prescott High School in 1999. He attended classes at Yavapai College.
Garrett was a gentle spirit who never met a stranger. He genuinely liked people and could relate to people of all ages. He previously worked at a care home in Prescott where the elderly ladies adored him. His Irish heritage colored his personality with both humor and melancholy.
Garrett loved wandering the woods around Prescott where he found peace and solace in the silence. He enjoyed camping with his family and friends. Animals, especially dogs, had a special place in his heart, and he was fortunate to find the perfect job as assistant manager at the Yavapai Humane Society Thrift Store, where he made many friends who supported and loved him.
The center of Garrett's world was his daughter, Aspyn. He was always grateful to Kristin for giving him such a precious gift. He loved sharing his passion for music, books, art and movies with her. He was happiest when he was spending time with her. They spent many hours together browsing antique stores, watching movies, drawing pictures, reading books and listening to music. He loved taking her to Disneyland, and most recently to Cape Cod.
Garrett is survived by his daughter Aspyn Glau; his parents, Gordon and Pattie Glau; his sister, Shannon and partner Mercede Glau; his nieces, Cora and Savannah Glau; Aspyn's mother and Garrett's best friend, Kristin Fisher; his aunts and uncles, Bob and Linda Michael, Tom and Tammy Kelly, Don and Katy Standhardt, Greg and Courtney Glau, Peter and Gretchen Korzaan, and Cathee and Greg Carlson as well as his special Steward aunts and uncles; his beloved cousins, and his large extended family of great aunts, uncles and second cousins. He also leaves behind many friends. Garrett was preceded in death by his brother, Jeremy, grandparents, Robert and Gertrude Glau, Thomas and Mary Kelly and his cousin Tierre.
We would like to thank the Prescott Recovery Community for their love and support during the past two years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Yavapai Humane Society Thrift Store, 1601 Iron Springs Rd., Prescott, AZ 86305.
