Freida June (Carr) Rhodes, 74, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 1, 2014. Born on Sept. 27, 1940, in Weeksbury, Kentucky, Freida was raised in a God-fearing household with eight brothers and sisters. At the tender age of 14, Freida dedicated her life to God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. After moving to Columbus, Ohio, as a young adult with her sister Bonnie, she met the love of her life and husband of 54 years, David Rhodes. They married in 1960 and welcomed a daughter in 1961 and a son in 1964. The family relocated to Phoenix in 1977, where Freida worked tirelessly to help David Sr. establish and maintain a successful painting business. Freida was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, friend and spiritual mentor. She spent countless hours volunteering her time and energy in educating anyone with a listening ear about the truths of the Bible. Her zest for life and zeal for service to others shined brilliantly through a lifelong battle with debilitating arthritis. Despite physical pain, Freida was always bubbly, vivacious and very generous with her quick wit and infectious laugh. Her strong faith and resilience helped her courageously endure the tragic loss of her son, David Jr., 49, of Cleator, Arizona, last year. She is survived by her husband, David; daughter Gina Aadland of Gilbert, Arizona; granddaughter Jordyn Aadland of Mesa, Arizona; sister Neola 'Bonnie' Finton of Columbus, Ohio; and brothers Paul Carr of Columbus, Ohio, Jim Carr of Tyron, North Carolina, and Bob Carr of Waynesboro, Georgia. All who knew Freida eagerly look forward to being reunited with her through the blessings of God's Kingdom in the near future.
