Frances Marion Street

Frances died at her home in Prescott, Arizona, on Wednesday, December 8, 2004.  She was born December 27, 1911, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Van Lieu and Ettie May (Retallick) Minor.  Frances was 92 years old.   Frances is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Joy Street of Prescott, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Judith Pagliasotti of Cocolalla, Idaho; grandchildren:  Jenny, Katie, Matt, Francie, and Alvah; great-grandchildren:  Becky, Zora, Mike, Mandy, Lily, Selena, and Jacque   Frances spent most of her early life in Michigan and enjoyed swimming in Gull Lake by her home.  She met her dear husband, Arthur, in a math class at UCLA, where she went to earn her Master?s degree.  They were married on Valentine?s Day in 1942 and were married for 62 years.  They enjoyed hiking, bird watching, and ballroom dancing.  She was still one of the Thursday night ?regulars? at the Pine Cone Inn after Arthur passed away in June of this year.   Before she met Arthur, Frances taught high school math classes in Michigan for five years.  She saved enough to take a trip to Europe in the late 1930?s.  She was a stay at home mom while her two sons were growing up and she loved to garden at their home in El Monte, California.  After Arthur retired, they were fire lookouts at Mt. Elden near Flagstaff.  They moved to Prescott in 1971 and often said that it was one of the best decisions they ever made.   Frances was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Prescott Hiking Club.  For years, she and Arthur organized the dances at the Adult Center.  They spent many hours planning the music for the dance programs.  She and Arthur enjoyed traveling and visiting with their friends.   Frances? oldest son, Norman, died in a tragic accident over 29 years ago.  She was able to live next door to Don and Joy for the past year, and she was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter, Kate, and her husband, Lee, for the past one and a half years.  Two hours after Frances died, Kate gave birth to Zora in Prescott.
