Betty (Frances Elizabeth Fuller) Thompson died June 21, 2014 at the age of 98. She was born in Euclid, Ohio June 7, 1916 to F. Lee Fuller and Lura Babbitt Fuller. She is survived by her daughter F. Barbara Dye, her sister Marian West of Escondido, CA, four grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She was predeceased by her brother, Max P Fuller of Akron, Ohio. She graduated from Hudson High School, Kent State University and Western Reserve School of Library Science. She was a school librarian in Cleveland, Ohio where she met and married Dean Imhoff; they had one daughter, Barbara. Dean died in 1947 and Betty and Barbara moved to Tucson, Arizona to be near Betty's family. She was director of Children's Services at the Tucson Public Library. There she met and married Payton Thomas and they later moved to Yuma, Arizona where she became Library Director until 1974. After a short stay in EI Centro, Ca as director of a bookmobile demonstration project, she came to Prescott as Director of the Prescott Library. In 1976, her husband, Payton died of cancer. She was always active in state and regional library organizations serving in many official capacities. Betty met William (Bill) Thompson through mutual friends and they were married on February 3, 1979. She retired from the Prescott Library a few years later, but remained active in the Library Friends and worked as a volunteer in both the City and District libraries until 2006. She and Bill enjoyed travelling by RV, car, train and cruise ship – mostly in North and South America, from the Arctic Circle to Antarctica until his death in 2000.
