Bette Mickles, 87, of Prescott, Arizona passed away Friday, October 28th. Beloved mother to Kirk Mickles of Prescott and Pam Field of Prescott Valley. Beloved grandmother to Keith Bellamy of Chandler, Shannon Robillard of Prescott Valley and Damon Fernandez of Hauser Lake, Idaho. Great-grandmother to Braiden Bellany of Huntington Beach, Tyler Robillard of Prescott Valley, Jaden Bellany of St. George, Utah and Niko Fernandez of Hauser Lake, Idaho.
Mrs. Mickles was born to Harry and Florence Brown on February 12th, 1924 in Reading, Pennsylvania. She anxiously awaited her 20th birthday to enlist in the United States Navy as a Wave in WWII and was stationed at Annapolis, Maryland Naval Hospital where she served her military duty till the end of the war. She used her G.I. bill benefits to enter Bessie V. Hicks Dramatic School in Philadelphia, PA., where she met her husband and father of their two children, Tom Mickles.
The family then moved to California where she became a Medical Secretary till she retired in 1989. She was a faithful women and an active member and Deacon in her church, St. Johns Presbyterian Church of West Los Angeles where she lived and raised her children. She moved to Prescott, Arizona in 2007, where she resided, to be closer to her family.
Bette was a happy, jovial person who was always up for a practical joke. She was a loving and devoted mother whose family meant everything to her and was deeply loved by her children and grandchildren. A favorite pastime was spending time with her family playing Parcheesi, cheering on the Dodgers or watching a favorite classic old movie. Most of all she loved life, loved people and being generous to all. She will be remembered by her glowing smile and loving ways, and will be missed by all who knew her.
