Dear loved ones, Our dearest Eva Mindy passed away yesterday, April 12. For 57 years, she lived a life of beauty and strength, guiding her daughters and helping them shape their lives, advising and supporting her husband through thick and thin, inducing laughter and creativity as a sister and friend, and supporting and honoring her parents to the very end. Eva always strove to do the right thing, and had a very strong set of values to which she stuck immeasurably. Eva spent her last days being nurtured and cared for at the Good Samaritan Society hospice, with Bill by her side. The nurses there helped prolong her life, and not prolong her death. They ensured that she was comfortable, without pain, and took very sweet care of her. In the end, Eva was surrounded by family as she took her last breaths. Sarah played guitar and she, Renata, Bill, and Jamie sang Eva's favorite songs and spoke to her. During the music, Eva's breaths slowly changed. We gathered around her on her bed and held her, telling her how much she meant to all of us as she drifted away. We are holding her funeral this Wednesday at the Heritage Memorial Park in Dewey, AZ at 10:00. Eva spent her last few years in Arizona, and said that it was here that she 'felt glad to be alive' as she looked around at the mountains. If you are able to come to the funeral and graveside ceremony, we would be very grateful for your presence. In addition to the funeral, we will be gathering for a memorial service in New Jersey, to honor Eva with her friends and family there. The exact date and location is TBD, though it will hopefully be the first weekend of May, and in Fair Lawn. Information about both gatherings will be here: http://goo.gl/6u2f12. If you'd like to do something to honor Eva, some of the things that meant a lot to her were the Chabad Center of Northwest NJ, Project Gutenberg, Patch Adams & the Gesundheit Institute, and The Circle School. And, at the very end, the Good Samaritan Society took very good care of her and means a lot to us now. Thank you for your support, your prayers, your compassion, and your presence in our lives. Love, Renata, Sarah & Bill
