Eugene Ralph Hunt

Eugene R. Hunt was born in Lincoln, Nebraska May 29, 1949, and went home to be with his Lord on November 3, 2021, after a long battle with cancer.

Gene was the first of four children born to Eugene and Ila Retzlaff Hunt. Growing up in Wyoming he loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. After graduating from North Platte High School, he served in the U.S. Army. He met Jackie, his wife of 50 years, in Prescott. Gene obtained his degree at Northern Arizona University and was recruited by Continental Oil Company where he worked for 14 years. He completed his career in 2011 in Canon City, Colorado with the Bureau of Land Management.

Besides hunting and fishing, he spent many memorable years on the softball field with his daughter Dawn. He and his hunting dog Gunnie spent countless hours hunting quail in New Mexico. In retirement he enjoyed camping and ATV riding in Colorado as well as golfing.

Gene was known for his ability to make others laugh and always had a smile on his face. He was a kind and caring person; and had a passion for helping others. He was liked by all he met.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, daughter, 2 sisters, a brother, a brother-in-law and many nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, and great great nieces/nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 8, 2021, at Ruffner-Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel, 8480 E. Valley Road. Prescott Valley.
