Ernest Verne Hovey, 66, of Dewey, Arizona, died August 18, 2011, at the Bob Stump VA Medical Center in Prescott.
Mr. Hovey was born February 7, 1945, in Chico, California, to Mary Louise Hovey (formerly Barker), while his father was a P.O.W. in Germany.
He attended Altus High School in Oklahoma, and then graduated his senior year from Cordova High School in Rancho Cordova, California. After high school he attended junior college in Sacramento, California, before joining the United States Air Force, where he retired from Luke Air Force Base in Litchfield Park, Arizona, as a Master Sergeant in 1985.
He enjoyed watching science fiction movies and playing cards with his family. He enjoyed evening walks with his wife in the park they lived in. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his mother and father, Mary and Ernest of Mesa, Arizona; three children Stephanie, Paul, and Sheri; and three grandchildren Timothy, Mason, and Jessica.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Hovey.

Nicheside service with Military Honors will be at 1pm, Friday September 16th at the Prescott National Cemetery, Prescott.
