Emily Ingham Sandstrom, born June 19, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa, passed away July 10, 2008 in Prescott, Arizona. Emily was preceded in death by her oldest son, Kenneth Miles, and is survived by her beloved husband, Paul of Prescott, AZ; daughter, Dayna Tutino and two grandsons, Jared and Brian Cahn of Dublin, California; a sister, Trudy Dunlap of Laguna Beach, CA; a brother, William Ingham of Palm Springs, CA. Emily attended Scripps College in Claremont, CA and is a graduate of the University of California, at Berkeley. While at Berkeley, Emily was affiliated with Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. In 1977, she graduated from the Pasadena City College Nursing Program. Emily fought a long battle with cancer, which necessitated her retiring as an RN from the VA Hospital in Prescott, 2002. While living in California, Emily worked many years with the homeless and drug addicted population, and was the executive director of the Pasadena Council on alcoholism and drug dependency for 8 years prior to moving to Prescott. She has been astute in her local church, 1st Congregational, UCC, in downtown Prescott, as a volunteer working with the homeless and served 2 years as chairperson of the Women's Fellowship's annual fundraiser, "The Country Store," which donates proceeds to local philanthropies. She also trained for the Hospcie Volunteers program at YRMC and volunteered in this program for several years. Chaplain Elizabeth Harris, a long time friend of the deceased will conduct the memorial service at 1st Congregational Church 216 E. Gurley St., Prescott on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations go to the YRMC Hospice Program 3262 N. Windsong Drive Prescott Valley, AZ 86314.
