Ellis L. Clark, 63, of Prescott passed away Wednesday April 24, 2013. He was born February 10, 1950 to Eddie J. & Ethel (Bleak) Clark in Safford, AZ. Mr. Clark spent most of his life in Yavapai County. He had been a heavy duty mechanic for Bagdad-Cyprus mining company and a machinist at Sterm Ruger in Prescott. He was very proud of his service as an Emergency Medical Technician and Hunter Safety instructor for the Arizona Game & Fish Department. In his youth, he was a good athlete and during his early 20’s, he played semi-pro baseball. He was a skilled mechanic and machinist, often putting those talents to use by helping family members and friends. Mr. Clark graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute of Phoenix in 1969 as a certified gasoline mechanic. Later, he attended and graduated from Yavapai College with an Associate’s Degree in Gun Smithing and Manufacturing. He was legendary for producing quality work, but not for promptness. Mr. Clark is survived by his wife JoAnn; his sisters Esther Florez of Prescott Valley, AZ, and Maureen Hammons of Wikieup, AZ; his three daughters Katie Sutherlin of Boulder, MT, Eileen Montijo of Mesa, AZ, and Annie Dodson of Rim Rock, AZ; five grandchildren Vernon (Buck), Cheyanne, and BobbieJo Sutherlin, Emma Dodson, Deegan Montijo, and a Dodson grandchild soon to be born. He was preceded in death by his parents Eddie J. Clark and Lucille Dieu, as well as his brother Eddie J. Clark Jr., and sister Marion Burk. In recent years, Mr. Clark had been confined to his home due to declining health. He spent his time talking for HOURS on the phone to friends and family, playing with his dogs, and reading various technical books. Mr. Clark was known for his friendliness, quick wit, and humor. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.
