Doris Rachel Ekstrom

DORIS RACHEL EKSTROM, 87, of Dewey, Arizona, died Friday, September 23, 2005 in Prescott, Arizona.  She was born on January 24, 1918, in Galesburg, Illinois.  She attended the Rio Consolidated School from its beginning through the second year of High School and graduated from Galesburg High School.  She attended Brown?s Business College, with a Professional Secretarial Diploma.  Doris was a Legal Secretary to Burrel Barach, of Galesburg, Il., , then secretary to the Adjutant at the Mayo General Hospital during World War II. On April 7, 1945 she married Robert Francis Cantwell in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  She was a County Office Clerk for the Department of Agriculture, Farmers Home Administration for both Knox and Henry Counties.  Her volunteer work include Chairman of the Furnishings and Decoration Committee during the construction of St. Clement of Roman Catholic Church in Sun City, Arizona; President of Church Women United of Bella Vista, Arkansas; President of the Northwest Arkansas Deanery of the Little Rock Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and development of the Benton County Woman?s Shelter in Bentonville, Arkansas.  Doris married Clemens Bernard Ekstrom on November 26, 1983, she is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Larson, a brother, Gerald in Arizona, a granddaughter, Karen (Hutchinson) Hirsch, a grandson, Benjamin R. Larson, two step-sons; Thomas and Roland Ekstrom, 3 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and is preceded in death by and older sister, Ruth. Doris was a member of the St. Germaine Parrish in Prescott Valley where she established Catholic Daughters of the Americas. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, September 30, 2005, 9:30 a.m. at St. Germaine Catholic Church in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
