Dora Gene Thompson, 96, of Prescott Valley, Arizona went home to be with our Lord Jesus and to be reunited with her husband on January 10th, 2025. She was born on November 21st, 1928, to S. Eugene and Dorothy Hart in Dorset, OH.
She married Clyde Andrew Thompson on May 21st, 1950.
They resided in Dorset, Ohio for many years while raising their daughters Beth, Ann and Elaine.
Her love for God and family was evident throughout her entire life. She played piano at Dorset Baptist Church every Sunday and sang solos, in duets and in the choir. After her husband retired and they moved to Arizona, she sang at Bethel Baptist Church in Prescott Valley, Arizona. She also played the piano and sang for the residents at Good Samaritan Rehabilitation Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona for 8 years.
She was a very dedicated homemaker through the years. Sewing dresses for her daughters, quilting, canning vegetables from the garden, making delicious home-cooked meals for her family and others, and baking bread, pies and cookies. She crocheted and knitted in her limited spare time, which included knitting dozens of bandages for those suffering from leprosy in other countries.
Dora is survived by her two daughters, Ann Thompson and Elaine (Thompson) Fenton, son-in-law Randy Fenton, and five grandchildren who she loved deeply -Amanda Fenton, Rebecca (Fenton) Laurence, grandson-in-law Jason Laurence, Kyle Fenton, Joel Fenton, Emma Fenton, and two great-grandchildren, Moses and Elijah Fenton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 67 years, daughter Beth, and a sister and brother.
Memorials and donations may be made to Dorset Baptist Church, PO Box 81, 2471 Rt. 193, Dorset, OH 44032 for tuning and upkeep of the church's piano.
