On August 15, 2013, Donald R. Biegel, age 84, left this earth to join his wife, Wanda I. Biegel and son, David V. Biegel in heaven. Don was born on March 21, 1929 in Wien, Missouri to Mazy and Joseph Biegel. He was the youngest of four boys. He grew up on a farm raising crops, pigs, cows, ducks and mink. Don served four years in the navy as a machinist shortly after high school. After the navy, he received a Bachelor’s Degree from Finaly Engineering in 1956 as a mechanical engineer. He met his loving wife of 46 years. They relocated to Phoenix, Arizona in 1962 to establish a chain of Mugs Up drive-in restaurants. In 1980, they started D & M landscaping. Don finally retired the business in 2005, although he never fully retired. He was very active driving for People Who Care, working on the finance committee at St. Catherines Catholic Church and the Garden Club. He volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul for 23 years at S.S. Simon and Jude. Don and Wanda relocated to Prescott Valley in 2001 to build their retirement home. Wanda passed in 2002 from colorectal cancer. In 2005, Don moved to Chino Valley to reside with his daughter and son-in-law. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, swinging on his back porch swing, songs of the meadowlark and his beloved Pomeranian, Little Bit. He also loved flying his single engine plane. He was a very generous man and always willing to lend a helping hand. Don is survived by his four children; Audrey (Garry) Clausen of Chino Valley, AZ, Mark (Becki) Biegel of Glendale, AZ, Mike Biegel of Chino Valley, AZ, and Richard Biegel of Las Vegas, NV. Don is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
