Dear Reverend Donald E. Ikerd: There will never be another man like you. You are one of a kind. You will be missed beyond your deepest imagination because you gave your life to many. You loved the ones around you so much and still had enough love to go around for anyone who needed it. You always said that a person will always know if you truly love them. We know that you truly loved us. You taught us how to love from the deepest part of our souls. Your accomplishments are great and known throughout the whole world and could never be told in this letter alone. Your almost 29 years of missionary work in Africa will never be forgotten. We can only imagine the magnitude of the work you did, how many souls were saved because of you! Only in heaven will you see the results of your loving work. You would never take the credit. Anytime we would try to give you honor you just pointed your finger up to heaven and said, ?It?s all about HIM.? You sacrificed a lot to do His work in Kenya, Zambia and South Africa. You brought the nations together. You labored endlessly. Then, even when the doctors said your heart was finished, you continued on to start a new work in Prescott, Arizona where a strong church, Prescott Landmark Church, thrives today. Until your last breath you ministered to us all ? and we believe your ministry will live on in our hearts forever. We will always remember you! We will remember how you were compassionate, humble, meek, gentle, kind, loving, patient, and a father to all ? and that?s just to name a few. We know that your wife, Sharon and your children Keith and Kelli will miss you terribly as well as all your family and friends. You made us all feel so special. No, we will never forget you. You have made that impossible. Farewell faithful husband, father, papa (grandpa) and brother. We love you and your legacy will forever carry on through the hearts of those you put your love into. And for that ? we thank you. You made it! And as you always said, ?If I go before you, I?ll meet you at the Eastern gate.? See you there. ?I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.? 2 Timothy 4:7
