Deanne Elizabeth Olson

In loving memory, we announce the passing of Deanne Olson-- beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, at the age of 88 years.

Deanne Olson was born in Everett, Washington. It was there that she met and married the man of her dreams, Richard Olson. They were married on March 20, 1953. A few years later they sensed a call into the ministry and packed their bags and moved to Southern California. Deanne was a faithful Pastor’s wife as she supported her husband in 30 years of ministry (Boron, Hawthorne, and Palmdale), while raising 4 active children. Deanne had a passion for teaching and taught in the private school for several years while living in Palmdale until she got her teaching credential at age 55, and taught another 10 years in the public school. After retiring from teaching, Richard and Deanne moved to Prescott, AZ, and Deanne enjoyed new friends, Bible Study, sewing, crafts and making memorable quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Deanne was known for her sharp wit and sense of humor, creativity and resourcefulness, and she was an amazing story teller.  Deanne recalled stories of her childhood, her children’s antics, and years in the ministry that were so fascinating and entertaining to hear.   The last few years she looked forward to every phone call and visit from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

After 68 years of marriage to Richard Olson, she leaves a great legacy; 4 children, Rick Olson (Palmdale, CA), Todd Olson (Anaheim Hills, CA), Sharol Olson (Santa Clarita, CA) and Judy Helms (Prescott, AZ), 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Deanne was predeceased by her parents, Lynn & Gloria Young, brother Pete Young, and grandson Adam Brewer. The family would like to thank her friends who faithfully came by to support her. They also want to thank the home care workers, medical staff and many that cared for her in the last few years.
