Dawn Owens-Cleland

Dawn Owens-Cleland entered into eternal life May 9, 2008, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born November 20, 1957 in Phoenix, Arizona the daughter of  Donald  and Beverly (Chester) Owens. Dawn was 50 years old.   Dawn graduated from Arcadia High School before attending NAU.  She received her BA in criminal justice from ASU in 1982 and her Masters in Public Administration in 1993. She enjoyed a long and successful career in Adult Probation in both Maricopa County and in Yavapai County for the last 12 years, where she was a supervisor the last 2 years.   Devoted to her daughter, Dawn spent her life instilling grace, confidence and a strong sense of purpose in Devon. Like all loving mothers, her concern was for her daughter and not herself. Her final moments were thoughts of Devon?s future and the plans they had made together.   Deeply proud of her Irish heritage, she loved Leprechauns, Irish music, St. Patrick?s Day and her favorite color was green. She loved all animals, especially dogs, cats and horses. Any stray animal was always welcome at Dawns house.   Surviving Dawn are those she so deeply loved; husband Rick, and daughter, Devon; father, Don Owens and step-mother Delores; brother, Steve and step-brother, David Fuller; step-sister, Torri Scott; step-children, John Cleland and Lisa Haw; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Dawn was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly and step-mother, Joann. She was a brightly shining star ~ elegant, caring, lover of all living things. She will be missed by all who deeply love her.
