David Francis Beairsto

David Francis Beairsto died March 29, 2009 at Mountain View Care Center in Prescott, AZ. He was born June 12, 1928 in Middletown, NY, the son of Joseph and Mary (Neville) Beairsto. David was 80 years old. David is survived by his spouse, Irene (Martin) Beairsto, his 6 children, Cynthia, Stephen, Teresa, David, Sandra, and Lisa, his14 grandchildren, 7 siblings, and dozens of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers John and Joseph, and his sisters, Elizabeth and Virginia. David graduated from St. Joseph's Elementary School and Middletown High School. For many years he and his family were members of St. Joseph's Parish, and later of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish. David was married to Irene on May 30, 1953. They raised 6 children before moving to Prescott, AZ in 1989 after David's retirement. He worked for many years at Orange and Rockland Utilities, operated  the Touchdown Inn, a small bar and restaurant, for several years in the late 1960's, and retired from the Orange County Correctional Facility in Goshen, NY. David enthusiastically participated in many community activities over the 60 years he resided in Middletown. He coached youth football with Pop Warner and was an assistant coach at Middletown High School in the early years. He remained an active member of the Elks, and was a volunteer member of the McQuoids Fire Company for many years. After moving his family to Greenville in 1970, he continued to serve the community through organizing and volunteering as a football coach for the Minisink Valley Youth Football League. David was passionate about sports, especially Norte Dame football and Red Socks baseball.David and Irene moved to Prescott, where he was an active volunteer with St. Vincent DePaul Society, Habitat for Humanity, and a high school football coach. He was a communicant at Sacred Heart Church, where he sang in the choir with his wife. In his retirement, David played golf with the Antelope Hills Mens Club, and completed dozens of jigsaw and crossword puzzles for relaxation. He could often be found tinkering in the garage and reworking the landscape around his home. When his children and grandchildren visited, he challenged them to his favorite board games, especially "Upwords" which he almost always won.His extended family fondly remembers his joy of life, his funny (and sometimes corny) jokes and puns, and his love for a lively party, where his great sense of humor placed him at the center of laughter. He and his family also loved to sing barbershop at family gatherings to the delight of all the nieces and nephews.
