Danny Dee Swetland

Danny the Lizard was a vivacious spirit who brought light and life wherever he went.  Danny considered everyone he met his friend.  As well all know he was an extremely talented musician, he received his first drum set at the age of 1 and has never put his sticks down. In his younger days, Danny enjoyed playing sports.  He held 2 state track records for Parkside High School in Jackson, Michigan.  Danny enjoyed making people laugh, notably he was the mascot (an eagle) for the high school.  But eventually his heart tugged him to the one thing he held most dear, his love of music. Danny was a long time member of IKO IKO who fronted for the likes of Jefferson Starship, Michael McDonald, and Boz Scaggs.  Danny has also collaborated with Martin Scorsese for the movie Cape Fear where IKO IKO was the 'band in the bar.'  He has also worked on projects with the Rolling Stones, Bob Seger, Jimmy Buffet, members of Canned Heat, Crosby Stills Nash, Delbert McClinton, and Albert Collins.  Danny's personal favorite was being back up band for the great Willie Dixon. Danny's life was one that was truly cherished, everything he did was with the greatest passion.  He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.  He truly was a Light in this world, one that always shined brightly. "A very great vision is needed and the man who has it must follow it as the eagle seeks the deepest blue of the sky" Crazy Horse
