Dana A. Stubbs

Dana A. Stubbs, who retired from Cornet Technologies as a mechanical design engineer, died January 31st of a stroke at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona after battling Lung Cancer for the last year. He was 63 years old and lived on Pignut Mountain in The Plains, VA for over 30 years until recently retiring to Prescott, AZ. Dana was born in Portland, ME. He graduated from George C. Marshall High School in 1966 and served in the United States Army from June 1968 to March 1970. He was 100% disabled from his service in Vietnam. Dana enjoyed surf fishing in North Carolina and the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and retreating to his cabana in Chincoteague, Virginia. He loved classic cars and was looking forward to purchasing one in Arizona. He spent most of his free time tinkering in his garage, working in his garden, and listening to classic rock. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Penny Stubbs of Prescott, AZ, his daughter Dana Kristine Wright and her husband Stephen S. Wright, his brother Dennis J. Stubbs and his wife Nel Stubbs, his sister Donna J. Shumaker and her husband Clif Shumaker, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and his best friends Tom Flynn and Tom Williamson. He was preceded in death by his brother Dale Stubbs, his mother Gerda Stubbs, his father Kilburn Stubbs, and his dear friend John Kuper, all of Falls Church, VA. He loved his family dearly and was thrilled about the upcoming arrival of his first grandson in June 2011. He also leaves behind his King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Riley, who spent many hours napping with him on his recliner. Donations can be made in his name to the Arizona Disabled American Veterans Prescott Chapter at 730 N. 5th Street, Prescott, AZ 86301.

Private family visitation was held.

Service:
A Celebration of Dana's life was held Saturday, February 8th at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home. Military honors were provided by American Legion Post 6 of Prescott.
