Clifford died Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Emerald Hill Care Home in Prescott, AZ. He was born April 6, 1921 in Oskaloosa, Iowa; the son of Harry Earl and Aileene (Downs) Bryan. Clifford was 90 years old.

At 18 years old Clifford was signed by the Cardinals farm team as a right-handed pitcher, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in 1942 and was discharged Honorable as a sergeant in 1945. Clifford perused his education and in 1948 he received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College, Kirksville, Missouri. In 1951 he received his Masters of Science in Health and Physical Education from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Clifford taught in Illinois and Arizona for a total of 32 years and retired in 1983 at Yuma High School as Physical Education Teacher and coach for cross country, basketball, baseball and golf.

Clifford is survived by his wife Dewilla (Dee), daughters; Cindy (Joe) Adcock, Michelle (Chris) Endris. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Aaron, Samantha, Taylor, and Trey, sister Louise Vavrichek, nephews Wayne and Bruce Vavrichek; niece Gayle Klouda.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today, June 15th at AZ Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, corner of Cortez and Carleton Streets in Prescott. Interment with full military honors will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 16th at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, There will also be a celebration of Cliffords life; 11 a.m. Friday, June 17th at Mt. Vernon Church of Christ in Prescott.
