Charlotte O'Sullivan

Charlotte A. O'Sullivan, 96, passed away peacefully on November 23rd, 2023, in Prescott, Arizona. She was born in Colusa, CA on July 22, 1927, to Ruth and Willis Sawyer, and lived in Sacramento during her school years. She attended the University of California at Berkeley and in 1949 became the first person in her immediate family to graduate from college with a B.A. degree. After graduating, she worked in San Francisco as an employee training instructor at the Emporium department store. It was there she met a management trainee named Eugene whom she would marry in 1952. Charlotte and Eugene moved from San Francisco to their new home in Palo Alto shortly before the birth of their first child in 1955.
Charlotte was a homemaker for many years and a volunteer at the local elementary and jr. high schools. She was active at her church and was a member of the Children's Health Council Auxiliary organization. She learned bridge as a high school student and would continue to play for most of her adult life. She also enjoyed playing golf. After Eugene's retirement from his position in retail, they purchased and operated several retail clothing stores in San Jose and San Carlos. In 1991 they retired to Prescott, Arizona after closing their business the prior year. Charlotte developed a serious interest in genealogical research and went on to self-published her family history called "Ancestors and Associated Families of the Sawyer Family" in 2007. She was an active member of the Yavapai Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for over 25 years.
Charlotte was able to make friends wherever she went while maintaining the lifetime friendships she developed in her early adult life. She was a generous and caring woman with a sense of humor and a friendly demeanor. We will miss Charlotte's signature laugh, her love of neatness, and sense of style. To her family members, she will always be remembered as saying "White Rabbit!" on the first day of each month to wish good luck to everyone.
Pre-deceased by her husband Eugene O'Sullivan and brother Winston Sawyer, Charlotte is survived by her son Steven, and daughter Kathleen (husband Maurice). She will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Prescott National Cemetery. No memorial service will be held per her request.
