Charles Daniel, 88, of Prescott, died September 24, 2011 at the Northern Arizona VA Medical Center after a long illness. Charles was born in Phoenix November 13, 1922. At the start of WWII, Charles enlisted in the Navy. In 1943, he earned his B.S. in Business from the University of California, Berkeley and attended Officers Candidate School at Harvard. His education prepared Charles for a successful career as a Naval Officer in the Supply Corps. In 1948 he married Mildred Henderson of Alabama. Commander Daniel retired from the Navy in 1967 and, having earned a Masters in Financial Management, began a new career as a logistics engineer with Westinghouse, in Baltimore, working on AWACS radar. Charles enjoyed sailing, skiing, tennis, and keeping up with the latest technological gadgets. His dream was to retire in the state of his birth, and in 1987, he and Millie built a home in Hidden Valley, later moving to Las Fuentes. Charles is survived by his adoring wife of 63 yrs., daughters Karen and Tami, son Robert, daughter-in-law Laramie, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his only sibling, Ralph Dudley Daniel. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 6th at Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez Street. Charles ashes will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Voluntary Services at the VA Hospital are suggested.
