Catherine Sylvia Larson, 83, the ‘Butterfly Lady’ of Prescott, AZ, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, March 13, 2015 with family and friends by her side. She was born April 16, 1931, daughter of late Sylvester and Marguerite Lang, in Menominee, Michigan. Catherine’s legacy of butterflies, that has touched thousands of lives, will live on through Deborah Newhall, her partner in ministry. She was also an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making crafts, reading, games, puzzles and waffles! She loved flowers, birds, butterflies, country music, dancing, camping, fishing, the Colorado Rockies and especially spending time with family. Catherine’s first employment was in a cookie factory. She was a homemaker and when the girls were older, she was employed by the East Troy, WI Drug store until she opened her own fabric and sewing store from 1974 to 1978. After her husband, Clarence Omet passed away in 1977, she moved to Denver to be by her sisters, and her daughters, Teresa & Deborah moved there as well. She moved her fabric store there but later decided to focus more on crafts and also began cleaning homes. She met Carrol Larson dancing one evening and they were married 6-20-87. They also lived in Phoenix and Oceanside, CA until they retired in Shawnee, OK near Catherine’s brother. She was thankful to spend the last 6 years of her life with her 2 daughters and son-in-law in Prescott, AZ area.
