Carolee Gray, died Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in Prescott. She was born May 27, 1932 in Flagstaff, AZ; the daughter of Leo and Hortence EK. Carolee was 81 years old. Carolee was valedictoria of Flagstff High School and a graduate of Stephens College in Missouri. She worked as a writer for KCLS in Flagstaff. She met her Husband, Robert “Bob” Gray, on a blind date at a square dance. They were married June 19, 1954 in Flagstaff. They spent the first 20 years of their marriage in Scottdale were Carolee and Bob managed a variety store. She is a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Scottsdale Chapter 43. The family moved to Prescott in 1974 where Carolee was active in many community activies. She was a board member of the Prescott Chamber of Commerce, Prescott Fine Arts Association and 3 terms as President of the Daughters of the Nile, (womens’ shrine axuliary. She took an active role in helping to start events on the Courthouse Square and downtown; the first Faire on the Square, the Blue Grass Festival and the Christmas Parade. Carolee was also active with the Yavapai County Fair, serving as Chariman for 3 years and the Superintendent of the Arts and Crafts Department for 30 years Carolee was also a member and a dancer with the Smoki People. Carolee was a gifted seamstress and artist, who also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, She also made jewelry and creamics. She and Bob enjoyed traveling and spent time in Europe, Tahiti, Fifi, Austrialia and New Zealand. She would also tell the story of traveling with her son, Jim’s gymnastic team to Las Vegas,NV as a Chaperone. Carolee is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Bob, son Jim (Charlotte) grandchildren: R.J., Zachariah and Hannah.

Celebration of Carolee’s life will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8 at Saint Luke’s Espicopal Church, 2000 Shepherd’s Lane, Prescott. Burial will be private at the Masonic Cemetery, Prescott.
