Carol Daniels Snyder, 91, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Hospice Family Care in Prescott, Arizona. She was a strong stoic woman who valued pragmatism, hard-work, and family. Born in Seattle in 1920, she was the daughter of Harry and Aleta Daniels. Growing up during the Great Depression, she acquired an affinity for financial management. At the age of 16, she entered the University of Washington where she obtained her BA. She would later go on to obtain a Masters degree in 1962. Although her heart was set on becoming a CPA, she witnessed ubiquitous gender discrimination and decided to set her sights on teaching. She became a certified teacher in California and taught business and accounting at Petaluma Senior High School for 25 years. While taking a class in Corporate Finance, she fell in love with Alden Snyder. They were married for 57 years until his death. Carol and Alden had a mutual passion for history and spent part of their retired lives traveling abroad. Carol Snyder was known for her dependability and dedication to her family. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include her sons, Alan, Lowell and Neil, and her grandchildren, Adam, Julia, Philip and Rae Ana. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Yavapai Guidance Clinic (www.wygc.org).
