Brian Grant Smith peacefully went to Heaven after a brief illness on Saturday, October 25, 2014. He was born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and became a naturalized American citizen after his residency in the United States. Brian served in the United States Army from 1962 until 1965 with the 14th Armored Cavalry stationed in Bad Hersfeld, West Germany as a patrol border guard for the American sector. Brian worked his way through undergraduate and graduate school studying industrial technology. He worked for J. Ray McDermott International (an oilfield construction company) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He then returned to the United States and worked as an engineer for Union Carbide. Brian always possessed the entrepreneurial spirit. He opened his own business in Prescott Valley which served all aspects of the steel cutting industry. He retired in 2005. Brian was a resident of Prescott for 30 years, and he especially liked the historical aspects of the town as well as the citizens' love for animals. Brian and his wife traveled extensively throughout the world, especially enjoying Chile, Australia and New Zealand. Brian is survived by his beloved wife Linda; his brother Donald (Barbara); nephews Junior, Jeff (Tracy), Dave (Lora), Keith (Stacy); and niece Rebecca.
