Boris Vladimir Misic

Boris Vladimir Misic died peacefully in his sleep at Westfield Assisted Living in Prescott Valley, Arizona on January 4, 2020. Boris was born on June 23, 1925 in Yugoslavia to Vladimir and Katica Misic. Following World War II, he joined the Communist resistance movement in Yugoslavia. He was forced to flee to France and request asylum after being targeted for capture and imprisonment in a work camp.

His fiancée Vera Andjelic joined him in France shortly thereafter where they applied for visas to come to the United States. They worked, lived, and married in Paris, and were ultimately granted passage to the United States five years later. Upon their arrival in Chicago, they quickly found jobs, learned English, and ultimately became US citizens. After a time, they moved to Grayslake, Illinois where they remained in the same house for decades and raised their daughter. Boris worked for a subsidiary of Mercer for nearly thirty years before he and his wife Vera retired to Prescott, Arizona in October of 1994.

Boris enjoyed classical music, going shooting at the gun range, and playing bridge.

Boris, an only child, was preceded in death by his parents Katica and Vladimir Misic, and also by his wife Vera. He is survived by his daughter Anna (Misic) Baker and his grandson Jarrett Baker.

A private scattering of ashes will follow his cremation.
