Sue Alvis, of Prescott, AZ, died from heart failure on Jan. 10th. She was 63. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 16th, 2012 at Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home in Prescott. Sue was born in Danville, VA to Edward and Ruby Carson. She married Jerry Alvis, of Anaheim in 1987.

Sue was selfless in making the welfare of her family a priority and sharing her unconditional love with all those around her. She was a devoted wife, wonderful sister, loving mother and caring friend. Sue leaves behind her husband, Jerry of Prescott, brother Mike Carson of Anaheim, and son Steven Masters of San Francisco as well as stepdaughters Jeannine Willoughby of Phoenix City, AL and Tamerisa Dyer of Mira Loma, CA and her grandchildren: Mikayla, Caleb, Makenzie, Blake, Collin and Samuel.

Sue was raised in Orange County and graduated from California State University, Fullerton. She spent the bulk of her career with the Orange County Sheriffs department before retiring to her ranch in Prescott, AZ. Sue carried a deep concern for and was an active volunteer of the Alzheimers Assn. in Prescott.

In addition to her parents, two grandchildren, Karyna Dyer and Austin Willoughby, predeceased Sue. Sue will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Desert Southwest Chapter of the Alzheimers Assn at 3111 Clearwater Dr. Suite A, Prescott, AZ 86305 or the Wounded Warrior Project.
