Betty June Dellinger passed peacefully in her sleep into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 9th, 2020, in Prescott Valley, Arizona. She had just turned 90 the day before.
June was born in Denver, Colorado, in 1930. She attended North High School, where she met her future husband, Tom. She graduated in 1952 from Colorado State College of Education, having completed her B.A. She and Tom were married in 1953 and were blessed with three sons. Devoted to the Lord, June was active in church with her husband and boys, always seeking to grow in her Christian faith.
Through the years, June taught Physical Education in various schools and supported her family in their various activities. She served on the P.T.A. board of Lakewood High School, becoming county president for a term. Giving of her time and talents, she spearheaded a landmark community drug awareness program that drew national attention. As a result, she was chosen "Woman of the Year" in 1981 by the Lakewood Sentinel.
June and Tom retired to Prescott in 1983 and continued to serve the Lord in their church. She taught ladies Bible studies for many years and served in various other capacities. One of her favorite memories was of a missions trip they took to South Africa, where they helped to build a church.
June knew Jesus as her Savior from childhood and loved church. She was known for her bright smile, joyful heart, and kindness to everyone. Her godly influence was felt far and wide throughout her life. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her three sons and their wives, and six grandchildren.
Because of concerns due to the virus, there will not be a public memorial held for June. The family will celebrate June’s life privately. Your thoughts and prayers are most appreciated at this time.
