Betty C. (Hillis) Underwood, 59, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Hospice Family Care in Prescott, Arizona. Betty was born November 19, 1954 in Smyrna, Tennessee, and after marrying husband Larry, moved to Huber Heights, Ohio where they resided for 35 years. Betty retired April 2011 after 34 years of service from the Department of Defense as an Intelligence Analyst with the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio. She was an active member of the Prescott United Methodist Church in Prescott, Arizona. After retirement, Betty and Larry moved from Huber Heights, Ohio to Prescott Valley, Arizona to be closer to the greatest joys in her life, her granddaughters, Addison and Ansley. Betty’s other two loves were her dogs Harley and Sugar that she enjoyed walking on the scenic paths around her neighborhood. Among Betty’s other activities she was involved with bible study and line dancing class, playing her piano, feeding the birds, tending to her flowers, hiking and riding her bicycle. Betty is survived by her parents William L. and Dorothy M. Hillis and sister Debbie M. Hillis of Fairborn, Ohio; her husband of 40 years, Larry S. Underwood of Prescott Valley, Arizona; son Joseph R. and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Underwood; granddaughters Addison and Ansley of Phoenix, Arizona; and son William L. Underwood and Andrea Hauer of Cincinnati, Ohio. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Werry Funeral Home, 615 S. Brewery St. New Harmony, Indiana. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Werry Funeral Home followed by burial at her final resting place, Laurel Hill Cemetery in Wadesville, Indiana.
