Bayard Alfred Taylor, Jr., 82, died Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott, Arizona. He was born September 6, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York; the son of Bayard and Isabel (Weber) Taylor. After graduation from High School Bayard joined the United States and served over 30 years retiring as Commander and after having served during World War II as well as the Korean and Viet Nam conflicts. Bayard met and married the love of his life, Doris Shafford on March 28, 1945. Doris preceded Bayard in death in June of 2005. He was a member of St. Germaine Catholic Church and American Legion Post #6 in Prescott. Bayard enjoyed traveling and spending time working in his garden. He liked to cook and was a caring and devoted father. Bayard was proud of his children and grandchildren. Bayard is survived by his daughters and their husbands; June and Richard Taylor of Riddle, Or; Mary and Roy Fontinel of Payson, AZ and Laura and Keith Giles of Prescott Valley, AZ. Grandchildren Mark, Kira, haymes and Jeffrey. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Arizona Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel in Prescott Valley. Scripture Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Germaine Catholic Church, 7997 E. Dana Dr., Prescott Valley with Rev. Dan Vollmer presiding. Full Military honors will be offered at the conclusion of the Mass by the American Legion Post #6 of Prescott. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, Arizona. Family suggests contributions be make to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 120 N. Summit Ave., Prescott, AZ 86301.
