Barbara Childress Hartley

Barbara Joan Childress Hartley sadly passed away at her home on May 5, 2024.  She was born on October 17, 1948, with her twin Shirley, in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada to her loving parents William and Mary Maximchuk.
Barbara attended Marina High School in Huntington Beach, California before embracing the Culinary Community, first as a cook, and then as a Sous Chef.  She loved people and shared her love of food with them.  She was famous in her circle of friends for her most excellent “Deep Fried Cauliflower”, never greasy, always just right!  Barbara looked forward to cooking for those she loved.
Barbara enjoyed helping others and believed that the world could aways use one more kindhearted person.  She also believed that when one felt overwhelmed or weary, that God was the answer, as found in one of her favorite scriptures – Matthew 11:28 -30.  “Come to me all of you who are weary, and I will give you rest.”
She is survived by her sons Douglas (Susan) Childress and Steven Childress, as well as 2 grandsons, she also leaves behind her twin sister Shirley, her sister Karen Denovitz, brother Alan Maxim and many nieces, nephews, and their children.
Service date is to be determined.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stepping stones and the Yavapai County Humane Society.
