Barbara A. Baker, 73, of Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away on March 16, 2009, in Prescott, Arizona. Barbara was born January 4, 1936 in Bloomington, Indiana to Karl Joseph and Ruby Dell (Robinson) Moore. Barbara had an interesting life that took her from Indiana to Illinois, Michigan, California, Guam, Texas and South Dakota. She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1953. Barb's career path was varied from civil service at the Amarillo Air Force Base, to legal secretary and court reporter, a Dean's secretary at Indiana University, and owner/manager of Baker Mudjacking in Rapid City with her late husband, Charles Baker. Barb enjoyed boating on Pactola Lake, playing piano, roller skating, reading, sewing and crocheting afghans for family and friends and baby caps for the hospital. Barb was most proud of her positive influence with children and her ability to overcome adversity. Barb is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Alice "Sandy" (Schepansky) and Ken Anderson of Prescott, Arizona, son and daughter-in-law, Mark Andrew and Teddy Curry of Seattle, Washington, sister, Patricia Mitchell of Bloomington, Indiana, nephew, Rob Mitchell (girlfriend, Linda) and his son Seth of Wyoming, nephew, Scott Mitchell and family of Texas, nephew, Patrick Joseph Mitchell and family of Indiana, ex-husband, James Schepansky of South Dakota, cousins, Betty Workman of Texas, Rick Robinson of Florida, Mike and Priscilla Osborne of Indiana, Ron and Scott Shaw and family of Alaska, and step-children and their families, Brenda (Baker) Hawn, and Mike and Murial Baker of South Dakota, and Teresa (Baker) and Charlie Hammond of Colorado, Mary Catherine (Hammond) Afemui of South Dakota, surrogate son, Jon Eizinger and family of South Dakota, and her beloved poodle, Buddy. No services are planned. Barbara's inurnment will be at Clear Creek Cemetery in Bloomington, Indiana at a later date.
