Ann Schaefer entered her enteral life on March 8, 2005. At the time of Ann?s rebirth she was at her home in Prescott, lovingly embraced by her daughter Susan Grandjean, son-in-law Jim, and grandsons Jules, Alain and James. She was born in 1910 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Charles and Caroline (Barnes) Englert. For 82 years she resided in Queens, N.Y. and in 1993 she moved to Prescott, quickly adopting it as her new home, never losing her pride in being a native New Yorker. Ann?s life was unselfishly devoted to serving the Lord as a Eucharistic Minister and a volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was also active with the Legion of Mary, Clarets, Altar Society and Serra Club. A dedicated pro-life advocate, she prayed and worked diligently for an end to abortion. In 2001 she received the N.A. G. A. Caregivers Award, for her hours of volunteer service to the sick and elderly of Prescott. In 2003 Ann was honored to receive the Phoenix Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Pax Christi Award for her service to others. Ann lived life to the fullest and loved being ?on the go? She was a member of Sacred Heart Church?s Fun Bunch. A world traveler, she listed her favorite places as Alaska, which she visited many times and the Holy Land. Ann?s additional remaining family in this world includes her devoted daughter Marilyn Goetz of Long Island, N.Y. and three grandchildren Peter, Jeffrey and JoAnn Goetz and six wonderful great-grandchildren. She is also blessed with many loving nephews and nieces. Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband Karl (Charlie), six sisters, five brothers-in-law, precious grandson Michael Goetz and son-in-law Joseph Goetz, and her beloved godchild Diane Upton. Ann looked forward to a great reunion with her many friends and family in Heaven. Ann will be greatly missed but we are comforted to know that she is with Jesus, and continues to pray for us. Ann was an inspiration to all who knew her and was so dearly loved by her family and friends. Celebration of Ann?s life Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Monday March 14, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 150 Fluery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00p.m. Sunday, March 13 at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home corner of Cortez at Carleton, with a Rosary and Sharing of Memories at 3:00 p.m. The family suggests memorials in Ann?s name to St Vincent de Paul Society, 150 Fluery, Prescott, Az.
