Alton Brooks Hootch Callender, age 82, of Dewey, AZ, died on Wednesday, November 10, 2011 at the Marley House in Prescott, AZ. Alton was born on October 30, 1929 in Mobile, AL, to Alton Brooks and Mabel (Peterson) Callender, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Magalyne Bell. On March 20, 1969 he married Darlene Hope Davidson. Darlene Hope Callender survives him and keeps his memory alive by relishing the life she spent with him. Alton retired from the Melrose Park Fire Department in Melrose Park, IL. He retired there at the rank of Captain. It was there that he received the nickname Hootch. Alton enjoyed motorcycle riding in earlier years, as well as gulf fishing. Alton and Darlene have lived in Arizona for 16 years coming from Mobile, AL. There will be no services however the family will gather privately for services at a later date. Cremation has taken place at the Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley, AZ. Memorial contributions may be made to the Yavapai Humane Society or any animal rescue of the donors choice. You are invited to sign the online guest register for Alton at www.ruffnerwakelin.com.
