Alta Stumpf

Alta Mary Wiggins Stumpf, 105, of Prescott, AZ passed away on March 21, 2015. Alta was born in Woodbury, NJ in November of 1909 to Elmer Wesley and Ida Marcy Wiggins. Alta proudly graduated from Wellesley College in 1931, exactly 25 years after her mother’s Wellesley graduation. Alta married Jacob Herbert Stumpf in 1935 and they raised three children in Milwaukee, WI. Alta was a world traveler, avid sports woman, and life-long learner. In 2006 she relocated from Lake Beulah, WI to Prescott, where she resided at the Peridot followed by the Peaceful Valley Care Home. She played with the Adult Center bridge groups, swam in the Yavapai College fitness classes and read voraciously. Alta was honored at the Prescott Centenarian’s Luncheon in March 2012 when she was 102 years old. Alta is survived by her three children; Sheri McNulty of Bonita Springs, FL, Laura (John) Zambrano of Prescott, and Tom (Barbara) Stumpf of Enumclaw, WA, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Alta was preceded in death by her husband, J. Herbert, and four younger siblings; Kathleen Senn, Ruth Faude, Virginia Ballantyne, and Elmer W. Wiggins Jr. Alta’s family appreciates the fine care she received from Peaceful Valley Care Home and Good Samaritan Hospice. Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements. No memorial services are planned.
